TANNER’S WISH:  WHEELCHAIR LIFT

Tanner is 11 years old and is the heart of his family. Tanner has multiple disabilities that challenge his wellness and functional abilities: hypontia, developmental delays, post cleft lip, palate, G-tube, and central nervous system abnormalities.

As Tanner has grown so has the size of his wheelchairs. His mom, Donna, has been Tanner’s primary caretaker and the person to lift him in and out of the car.   She also lifts his wheelchair for a grand total of 130 lbs.  It was getting very difficult for Tanner’s mom to take him out of the house on her own.   As he ages, his weight will surely increase.

Tanner’s wish was for a new family van with a wheelchair lift so the whole family could ride together and make it easier for his mom to take him out by herself.  On February X, 2011, the High Hopes Foundation of NH, Inc. provided Tanner with his wish – a chair lift for his van.  It is a simple wish – which makes all the difference to Tanner and his family.  Happy cruising Tanner!

Skyler meeting Ariel!

Sklyer’s Wish:  To Meet Princess Ariel

Skyler is a 13 year old girl who knows what the inside of a hospital looks like all too well. She has had multiple surgeries on her feet and ankles for various reasons. Skyler is also living with developmental disabilities, anxiety issues, autistic spectrum disorder and seizures.

Skyler’s mom, Beverly, wanted something positive to happen to her daughter and so she called the High Hopes Foundation of NH, Inc.  Skyler has always wanted to meet Princess Ariel, the princess from the Little Mermaid. Skyler got her wish on April 10th!  She and her family spent a week at Give Kids the World, Orlando, FLA.  They had a wonderful week of surprises with lots of smiles and tons of fun!

A quote from Beverly, “Skyler went to bed every night with a smile and woke up everyday with a smile!” Now that’s something positive!

Mariah’s Wish:  Shopping!

Mariah is a shy 15 year old girl, but has a smile that lights up the room!  Three years ago she was a very energetic teenager playing on multiple sports and full of life when she suddenly went into cardiac arrest. After recovering from the cardiac arrest she had two strokes. Mariah has been diagnosed with Lupus which is causing severe Fibromyalgia.

Mariah, like most 15 year olds, loves shopping at the mall. Her wish was to go on a shopping spree at the Simon Mall in Manchester, NH. Mariah and her family where welcomed at the Colwen Hotel for a complimentary night stay and on June 4th the eight hour shopping spree commenced. Mariah literally shopped until she dropped.  Thank you to Claire’s for donating a gift basket, a $300 value, to Mariah.  She now has all the accessories to match her new clothing!
